THE ROLE

The Mechanic Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the mechanical team, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality repairs. This role involves supervising mechanics, managing projects, and maintaining equipment to meet safety and performance standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Lead and supervise a team of mechanics, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign tasks based on workload and skill sets, ensuring timely completion of repairs and maintenance
  • Inspect work performed by the team to ensure adherence to safety regulations and quality standards
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new and existing team members, fostering skill development
  • Monitor and manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring necessary items are stocked and available
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between management and the mechanical team, facilitating clear communication and addressing any concerns
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide solutions to enhance efficiency and performance
  • Experience maintaining industrial, large scale equipment related to metals recovery facility like cranes and overhead hoists, load test machines, pumps and electric motors, and hydraulic rams
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and equipment status, and report on team performance and project progress
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in mechanics preferred
  • Proven experience as a mechanic, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and repair techniques
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Willingness to work in various conditions, including outdoor environments and confined spaces
