THE ROLE

The Freight Broker is responsible for identifying potential customers, managing the client base, updating information, negotiating rates, preparing quotes, tracking hauled goods, managing the information flow between shipper and the company, resolving problems and overseeing the delivery of goods to the final destination on time.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Identify and qualify potential customers who require logistics services through cold calling, email outreach, networking, etc.
  • Build and nurture relationships with clients to understand their specific logistic needs, challenges and goals
  • Gain understanding of the full range of logistics services offered by Holloway Logistics and effectively communicate the value proposition to clients
  • Negotiate rates, terms and contracts with clients and carriers to secure business and ensure mutually beneficial agreements
  • Conduct market research to identify industry trends, competitor activities and opportunities for growth
  • Provide accurate and competitive freight quotes to clients based on their shipping requirements and market conditions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with carriers and freight partners to ensure reliable and cost-effective transportation solutions
  • Track and analyze sales activities, performance metrics and pipeline progress to measure success and identify areas for improvement
  • Provide exceptional customer service throughout the sales process and beyond
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics and best practices in logistics sales by attending training sessions, participating in industry events and seeking opportunities for professional growth and development

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in Business Administration, Logistics or a related field preferred
  • Desired experience with Transportation Management Software (TMS) and Electronic Data interchange (EDI)
  • Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and logistics
  • Excellent organizational, communication (verbal and written), analytical and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and the ability to be highly flexible in a constant changing environment will be critical to this role

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be noisy at times.

Position Location: Bakersfield or Paso Robles areas preferred, but open to qualified remote candidates in Central / Southern Calif.

Pay: $70k + Commission
