THE ROLE
The Plant Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities within the plant. This role ensures optimal performance, safety, and efficiency of all mechanical and electrical systems, while leading a team of maintenance technicians and coordinating maintenance activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Lead, train, and manage the maintenance team, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency
- Identify and resolve equipment issues quickly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to production
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards
- Assist in the preparation and management of the maintenance budget, monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement to ensure availability for timely repairs
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections; generate reports as needed
- Work closely with production teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal impact on operations
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in maintenance operations
- Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in a related field preferred
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in plant maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; familiarity with industrial equipment and tools
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Safety: Ability to lead and drive safety initiatives (training, LOTO, OSHA regulations, etc.)
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Environmental conditions – must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. The operator may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection
- Mental demands- conditions that may lead to mental or emotional fatigue. This position entails working independently and maintaining a schedule of work. Any problems or inconveniences may result in increased stress to complete tasks in a limited time
- Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling 25 to 50 pounds
- Climb on and around equipment and sit for long periods while operating equipment
- Walk and stand for long periods of time
- Able to climb a minimum of 2 story of stairs
